Heatsink+fan for VGA 8600GT small card?

Using a Point of View 8600GT card:

...it have reasonably quiet fan, but of course far too noisy for my liking. So I looked out for something that will fit well the reasonably small card, preferably overlaping ith 92mm fan over the top, so it cool a bit the NB heatsink after the card...

But much to my surprise, something like Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 are too big. The heatsink is huge, a 188x140mm (or 182x137 if you take their words: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/disco ... l#techdata ) monster for a 120mm fan... That is a bit overkill for the small and reasonably not too hot (TDP 40W, or so they say http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/198/ge ... 00-gt.html ) card.

So, are there something like the Accelero S2, but smaller... for a like 92mm fan out there?

I managed to find a Accelero L2 with reasonable 119x94 size, however the bottom does NOT look like that it can fit on my card AND there did not seems to be any suitable connections awailable, besides the GPU is at anged position on this card...
http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/disco ... tml?c=2264

But at least it is smaller, yet it is unclear, if there is enought space for the caps that have to fit bello the heatsink. At least 14mm there must be, preferably 15 as the Accelero L2 have... :|

So I'm a bit stuck. Of course there are alternatives like Zalman VF1000, but this is again overkill AND also the heatsink did not feature big enought fan to cool the chipset too AND I want to be able to use quiet fan (preferably Noctua... or shall I get something even quietier there from the 92mm pool?) of my choice and not their fan...

The Zalman vnf100 should work (I had one on a 9600 GT). I don't know if they still make it though...

Great idea! There is just one small problem, tough. I don't mind getting a secondhand cooler, not this... But the cooler is actually putting the radiator fins on the backside of the card. Nothing wrong with it, but there is not enought space on my setup for that. Because the fan that need to be at these fins can't fit there:

But other than that - it is a pretty nice heatsink. I wish it can stay on the ONE side, tough...

You could rip the stock fan off and replace it with a 80mm fan@7V or 9V, Use zip ties or something similar to secure the fan and power it from the PSU.

If you can accept losing a slot or two then I would take an old Socket A or Socket 478 heatsink and drill a few holes, then attach it without a fan straight onto the GPU. I have done this before to create a fanless Geforce FX5600 which has a similar power draw and it does look very neat.

How about a Zalman VF-700, if you can find one?
Not certain if it will fit but it's not massive and has a range of mounting holes. With the fan speed dialed right back if will still cool well and be properly quiet. Well Zalman's fans aren't always the best but still will be much better than stock.

edh - well, I would prefer not go fanless, because the case will be fanless, so the card will cook that way. Also, there is not much space near the GPU, witch is a limit. I could probably cut chunk of the heatsink off, but that would just look ughly...

SebRad - Zalman VF-700-cu looks good and I can buy it easily there. But it probably not fit on the card, as the clear space between the fins and the PCB must be 15mm, and the Zalman VF-700 are at whole only 30mm in height. And 15mm big fan means that the next 15mm is impossible to achieve... :(
Or at least I fear that and not close to the GPU, witch I need:
http://zalman.com/DataFile/product/VF700-Cu_01_b(0).jpg
...since caps are very close to the left of the GPU on the card:
http://i40.tinypic.com/rthmjo.jpg

And the POW 8600GT is not (any 8600 are not) listed in the list of compatible products:
http://www.zalman.co.kr/product/cooler/ ... t_eng.html

...but there is NO diameter and clearings drawings on the Zamlan page about Zalman VF-700-cu!
http://zalman.com/global/product/Produc ... hp?Idx=139
WTF!
