Hi,
Was wondering if anyone knows of anything like this this which could be used to replace a laptop fan?
Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried to do all the standard search before you post yadda-yadda... but I can't concentrate because of the noise of my girlfriend's laptop .

Re: alternative to fan for laptop?
Nope. All you can do is:
- open it up and clean it out. If it's an older laptop, a lot of dust/etc has accrued and may affect cooling and the fan rpm profile.
- see if there's a BIOS or fan profile hack for that particular laptop.
- sit the bottom of the laptop on a big hunk of metal to help dissipate heat
- replace it with a quieter laptop. Lots of fanless laptops these days that are fine for day to day use.

what steve says...
and...
"GF's laptop..." often placed on beds sofas, and pillows...spaces often shared by pets (shudder). super big magnet for dust and hair, and thus high fan speeds.
