What does it mean when you hear a quick burst of sound distortion?
It lasts a second and every couple of hours, both from watching movie, youtube or playing games..
Sign of system failure?

Re: Sign of system failure?
It could be anything. Do you get stuttering or the like, i.e. does frame rate drop?
It could be a process hogging up the CPU, a bug in the audio driver, a bug in any device driver (causing a CPU consumption spike)...
I think it is unlikely to be a sign of hardware failure (that would usually cause something that is not recoverable by the OS), but not ruled out.
If i'd need to bet on this, my best guess would be an audio driver issue.

Re: Sign of system failure?
Does it only happen on one set of speakers/headphones or any audio device?
This may sound strange, but got any cell phones? They can cause interference in some audio devices when they start a call.

No, I don't use cellphones.
I think it also freezes the frame when in games, so it's not just sound distortion.

Something to do with CPU power saving. C7, C3, whatever.
You watch some youtube clip, or listen to music and a matrix like stutter occurs for a few milliseconds.
I get that a few times a day on a 4690k. Very annoying, as i can't make it go away. And i don't want to disable the cpu power saving features.
