i have to choose ram. i read that you can buy overclockable ram.

do you advice it to me or not why ?

Worth it is a very relative term, for me it is, Ryzen 3000 series benefits from overclockable ram, 3200/3600 is the sweetspot but really depends on your workload and usage. Dont over spend though, while the are gains, they are small.

Try to find cheap memory 3200CL16 or 3600CL18 and play with the timmings.

You should explain why you even thinging about oc? I mean, have OC ram and never do it, not sure its worth to spend extra.


Years ago i build my 4690k build and when i was picking cpu i was 100% sure i will oc this baby. U know what? I never did. Mainly was using for photoshop so oc was never needed...

i havent checked prices lately. But my guess is yes. Same as "K" cpus. You know, having oc rams and dunno how to oc leads to using oc ram as a stock.

I agree with Abula.
"Overclocking" is defined as any clock setting above what the RAM will run at by default (typically 1,333 MHz).
The Ryzen 5 3600 officially support 3,200 MHz so that's the minimum you should go for. Faster RAM doesn't provide much increase in performance.
2x8 GB of 3,200 MHz can be had a very nice price. If you want to spend more opt for lower latencies rather than increased clocks.
As for what exact model of RAM to go for it's best to look at the compatibility list for your motherboard.

It's a B450 mobo, and therefore only running PCIe 3.0.
Don't expect PCIe 4.0 to be a must any time soon.

The first (higher end) of next generation Ryzen will be in stores on Nov 8.
About now and for the next few months is the best time to get a bargain on 3000-series Ryzen. Next gen will have higher performance, and a price to match.
If you want next gen you should (must) wait about three months. By then there's a new BIOS for your motherboard allowing you to run next gen Ryzen (and none of the current ones). AMD will most likely also have released another couple of SKUs and the prices should be a bit better.

AMD has announced that the 400-series of chipsets will get some version of AGESA code (which is then turned into BIOS by the board manufacturer) that will allow the boards to accept Zen 3 CPUs, and that generation alone, if that BIOS is installed. It will be a one-way upgrade that can't be undone.
Install this BIOS only when (if) you get a Zen 3 CPU, otherwise just don't.
The 400-series has by then been around for 2½ years, so any further BIOS upgrades for the support of older CPUs would/will be unlikely anyway.

SKU means specific model number. The bar code is called EAN.

Atm is very likely that 500 series wont get another gen either way, as AMD is likely to move to AM5 for ryzen 4.

Of course, but I'm referring to future AGESA/BIOS updates to (improve) the current chipsets and CPUs.
