will plastic transfer a current from the mobo bottom metal?

Post by jonjan » Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:17 pm

I am wondering... would thin pieces of plastic sheets be able to conduct current if it is touching the metal soldering/pins on the underside of the mobo? Any idears?

I have this set-up and i'm creating an air-chute on the bottom of the mobo, so the drives will be cooled

No, plastic to mobo contact will not pose any problem as it is a good electrical insulator.

Just make sure the pins don't punch through the plastic, as they can be quite sharp on some boards.

Edit: Never mind, that won't be an issue with your setup, since there's no metal underneath the board. I didn't look at the picture and assumed the plastic would go between the mobo and another metal part.
