Socket 939 motherboard with good fan control?

Post by Towermax » Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:07 am

I have to RMA my Asus A8N5X because one of the IDE ports failed. I'm thinking of buying a new board with better fan control and then selling the replacement A8N5X.

On the A8N5X, only the CPU fan can be controlled by Speedfan. Ideally, I'd like to get a motherboard with at least 3 controllable fan headers--CPU, rear case fan, front case fan.

Aside from socket 939, I need a 16-bit PCIE slot, a couple of PCI slots, four RAM sockets. I don't care whether the chipset is nVidia or ATI, but no VIA, please. I don't need firewire or integrated graphics, but don't mind if they're present.

(Would be nice if there's no chipset fan, but since I've got a Zalman NB47, that's not a big problem.)

Umm, the board should have decent overclocking options--I currently running my 3800X2 at 2.4 Ghz, a nice 20% gain over the stock 2.0.

What motherboard would you recommend?
