Mine runs hot in an Antec NSK1300. Idles at 50°C according to speedfan and hits 60°C playing matroska 720p files through HMDI on VLC.
That's with the AMD 5200 and stock CPU heatsink and fan.
That's both CPU and probably northbridge and southbridge, although I can't tell what Temp1 and 3 are in Speedfan, if anyone knows I'd be grateful.
They all hit the same temp roughly, Temp2 was 10°C lower, if I remember correctly.
I'm copying Bluefronts aria project, turning it positive pressure.
So I have the PW-200-V on order.
That brings me to the CPU heatsink. What low flat CPU coolers have people fitted on this MB. I'd like to keep the DVD option open and that set's the hight limit to about 11 cm, even the Ninja Mini might be too tall.
Also, by copying the hood idea a single 120mm fan might be enough to cool a CPU heatsink and send enough air over the north and southbridge.
I'm hoping the Thermalright XP 120 fits.. has anyone fitted that ?
thanks

I am using a thermaltake:

I took the fan off and got one of these:

and added one of these fans (4 pin):

Fans are a little louder than I wanted, but 47W is a great draw. Going to play with a fan controller this weekend for the case fan.

I am not undervolting and use positive pressure (fan blowing in)
Every heat reading, CPU and others dropped to around 30 - 33°C except one mobo sensor, that hovers at around 40°C. HDD is at 25 - 26°C
Fan is the one that came with the Ninja. It idles around 800 rpm. Playing HD matroska in vlc has little effect on temperatures, but the fan goes to about 1000 rpm.
I have the S-Flex 12 F fan on order, it is supposed to push more air per rpm.
I'm also going to try to install some sort of a hood at about 1/3 of the height of the fan to push air down towards the mobo.

There's a version of the BIOS, F3A, floating around the 'net that has voltage controls for the CPU (both overvolt and undervolt) and for the NB/Memory (overvolt only). This is the version that Gigabyte sent to a hardware review site.krschee wrote: 1. so undervolting has been confirmed to NOT work with this board? and the only way to do that is via CrystalCPUID?
The confusion is that the official F3A in Gigabyte's web site, as well as a F4 beta floating around, do not have voltage control. And it's not likely you will get an official BIOS from Gigabyte that supports voltage control as their tech support had stated that only the full ATX board (the S3H model) supports voltage control in the BIOS.
Has anyone installed a Thermalright XP-120 on this board (using the optional AM2 adaptor)?
If not, does anyone have suggestions for a cooler? My requirements are that it's compatible with this board in an Antec NSK-3480, that the fan is easily replaceable, and that it has downward airflow to cool the northbridge etc.
While it's only going to be used on a 45W Athlon x2 BE-2350 and under normal circumstances I'd just try undervolting the stock cooler's fan to see if it'd be quiet enough, this system is going to be used in a non-airconditioned room with 30-40C summer temps down here in Australia, so I think I'll be needing a better heatsink/larger fan from the outset if I want to run the fan at very low RPM.

For people who have this motherboard: what heatsink are you using?
I'm thinking of building a system with the GA-MA69VM-S2 (almost identical layout, no HDMI, around $20 US cheaper). From some comments in this thread and on Scythe's forum, the Ninja may or may not work.
The Scythe Andy Samurai *should* work if you only use 2 of the 4 RAM slots. And it would blow air down at the mobo to help with chipset cooling.
Scythe Andy Samurai compatibility
Images of Andy Samurai touching RAM in slots 1 and 2 (of 4 possible slots) in GA-MA69G-S3H (ATX version of the mATX GA-MA69G-S2H).
