temps - some explaination please

Post by nomadicdude » Wed Sep 21, 2005 6:55 am

Case - silverstone sg-01
HS - Fanless xp-90
Processor - AMD 939 3700
MOBO - MSI RS480M2-IL
Graphics - MSI 6600GT
Seasonic 430 with 120mm fan <1/4 inch above the xp-90 (essentially no CPU fan)

I'm getting the following temp through SpeedFan.

Ambient - 33 C
Remote 1 - 53 C (don't know the source)
Remote 2 - 113 C (Yikes!! But don't know source)
Local Temp - 40 C
Remote Temp - 42 C
Harddisk - 36C

Does it make sense?

I worried about the Remote 1 and 2 temp. More so because I don't what they are. Any ideas? One of the readers at HTPCNEWS.COM thought the Local and Remote are PWM temps.

Thanks

I'm not sure. I have the same motherboard and the same issue. If I turn off the CPU fan and just go from the case fans, it goes up to 118C. Other than that it hangs out at 113 load or not. I'm guessing it may be the northbridge temp. I've been debating taking the heatsink off and replacing it with the Zalaman.

I think the remote 1 is the CPU temp from what I've been able to tell. Too bad none of the MSI utilities work with this board as they would tell what the temps are.

If you find out, let me know but this is probably better suited to the CPU and motherboard forum.

I just checked the MSI forums and the temp reading is incorrect. Try putting your PC into sleep mode then come back out. This should correct both your CPU temp and the Remote 2 temp.

Can a moderator move this to the correct forum?
