AUX 12V 4 pin cable is too short, how do I extend it?
I installed a Seasonic S12 in a P180 over the weekend and the Aux 12V cable is too much of a tight fit for my liking. I searched eBay for a 12V 4 pin extender cable but didn’t come up with anything; I did however find a P4 Molex Power Adaptor Cable ( 4 Pin ); is this okay to use instead of the dedicated 12V 4 pin motherboard connector?

Thanks; I thought as much which is why I’m wary of using such an adaptor. I’ll leave it as a tight fit for now and see if I can pick up an extension cable somewhere else.
It’s an Asus A8V Deluxe and a S12 430W; not the latest edition that was recently reviewed on this site.whoatethepies wrote:What mobo and type of Seasonic are you using?

Would leaving the 'gate' thing open between the two chambers help? Or changing the orientation of the PSU? Probably done them already but its worth a shot..
From the picture I found, the port on the mobo is above the graphics card (near the CPU). If I'm looking at the right one, maybe threading the cable under the graphics card (between the PIE-E connector and the blanking plate, instead of over the top) would help? If that makes sense..

I’ve just found a Silverstone extension cable set (PP01) for both the 20/24 pin & 4 pin power cables; See here. That should do the trick. It’s reasonably priced at £3.14, so I’ll pick one up the next time I place a hardware order.
I'll take another look the next time I open the case up, but I did look at these sorts of options whilst installing.whoatethepies wrote:Would leaving the 'gate' thing open between the two chambers help? Or changing the orientation of the PSU? Probably done them already but its worth a shot..

The P4 extension cable is what your looking for. I've used them in a couple of P180's to allow the cable to go behind the motherboard.smilingcrow wrote:I installed a Seasonic S12 in a P180 over the weekend and the Aux 12V cable is too much of a tight fit for my liking. Thanks; I just managed to find one trader selling them on eBay, but for the price they are charging I’d rather get the Silverstone dual extension cable set.dragmor wrote:The P4 extension cable is what your looking for. It turns to that the latest revision of the S12 has longer power cables, which is useful for P180 owners. As I’m looking for a fanless P/S for my P180 I compiled a table of power cable lengths, most of which are for fanless units. The data is taken from SPCR reviews, so may no longer be current in all cases. Values are in inches, the first is for the 20/24 pin cable and the second for the 4 pin 12V cable:
S12 430 (I'm currently using) - 18 18
S12 330 (New Version) - 21 23
Phantom 500 - 19 24
Fortron Zen - 14 15
Silverstone ST30NF - 20 20
Silentmaxx MX460-PFL01 - 18 14
Phantom 350 - ! 20
The Silvestone extension power cables are 6â€

Nice idea, I'll take a look at that possibility when I swap motherboards next month.Ackelind wrote:The length of the 4-pin 12V*2 cable of the Phantom 350W is enough to route the cable from the lower chamber of the P180, under the mainboard and around the top edge to the connector on mainboards with the connector on top-left position.
