Abit AV8 and no CPU fan?

Post by mo786 » Tue Nov 14, 2006 5:04 pm

I currently have an ABIT AV8 with an Athlon 64 and a Zalman HS with a Nexus (Orange) fan with a low speed setting - if I set the speed too low the system will beep 9I have muted it) - currently spinning at around 560-600 rpm and getting a CPU temp of 38.

I am gonna install a Sythe Ninja soon - how will the Abit Board cope with no fan - will it even start up or what??? do I need something in the socket to say a fan is connected?

You just need disable CPU fan warning in BIOS.

I did set up one PC for my friend on AV8 - it started beep after turning on, but started windows anyway. Cause was simple - temperature controlled CPU fan did not reach enough RPM (actually it didn't start at all :)) and BIOS just screamed about that. After disabling fan warning everything was OK.

you can still have the beep on, just set the low limit to it's lowest setting...although, i think the low limit is 600rpm...then i guess you should just disable the beep like the other guy said.
