I didn't believe it was possible but here it is!

Note that this "3400+" is 2.0GHz but has only 128K L2. And that, at the end, the "product requirements" include a "socket-939 mobo that will run the part"!

When did this happen?

Yeah they've been out there. At least in Canada, Tiger Direct had a s939 mobo+sempron combo for sale at least once. Leftovers of OEM products after the move to AM2, no doubt.

There's one of these in a friend's Compaq Presario--apparently AMD has OEM'd a few different 939 Sempron's for HP (and perhaps others). They seem to be standard A64 chips with part of the cache disabled.
