This is just an idea. Chances are very slim I'd ever do it. But out of curiousity I thought I'd ask.
A reasonable amount of heat is generated on our motherboards by the PVM components. The mosfets, etc.
Has anyone ever considered or tried retrofitting their motherboard and replacing individual mosfets, capactors etc with higher quality ones?
Retrofitting motherboards?

Yep, everytime one blows on the Dell motherboards at work!
We had a bad batch of mobos that came in with dodgy caps, they kept frying in the heat of the place so (being electronic engineers) we swapped them out and fired them back up again. I wouldnt do it if your warranty was still in place though, unless you're really good at SMD work; we just didn't have the time to wait for Dell to get around to shipping us replacements for them.
