AC pwm fan vs. asrock's pwm "CPU Quiet fan"

Post by charonme » Tue Jun 19, 2007 3:57 am

Asrock ALiveNF6G-DVI has "cpu quiet fan" settings in bios that should slow down the pwm cpu fan when the cpu is cool and speed up when it's hot. I have problems slowing down AC pwm fan (1500rpm max) even when cpu temp is 35C. The board slows it down to 1000rpm even though the fan can go as slow as 400rpm :( Anyone some experience please? (my cpu is ADH3800DEBOX)

This seems to be a common BIOS issue with Asrock. My Asrock Conroe945G-DVI has a minimum PWM setting of 70%. To achieve lower settings (50% seems to work well with my HSF) I use SpeedFan. You might want to try that.

non-PWM fan speed control

After successful usage of a 4pin pwm fan I was testing some 3 pin fans and I couldn't slow down the 3 pin fan on this motherboard with speedfan.
