45 nm Intel Wolfdale ES tested

Post by Mats » Mon Aug 06, 2007 4:28 pm

It runs at 2.33 GHz, it's compared to a E6550 (same speed), and the review is in Chinese.

I don't know how they measured the power consumption (from the ATX plug maybe?), but here are the numbers:

Idle (EIST Disabled)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
Power - 61W
Temp - 41C

Intel Wolfdate 2.33GHz ES
Power - 43W
Temp - 31C

Load
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
Power - 83W
Temp - 49C

Intel Wolfdate 2.33GHz ES
Power - 59W
Temp - 37C

Not bad at all since it's an ES CPU compared to the latest G0 stepping. Things can only get better (yeah it can be hand picked...).

Here's an english article:

New 45nmHigh-K Wolfdale, the transistors added 40% but the power consumption reduced 28% and the temperature also decreased. All of these proved that Intel45nm process application has been mature.
