TDP of the X38

Post by Celoth » Sat Nov 03, 2007 9:07 am

Anyone have an idea what the TDP is for the different components on the X38 chipset? NB, SB, Mosfets and such. Even a ballpark estimate is helpfull.

I am basically trying to find out how much heat each part would add to a water cooling loop, or if I can go with passive cooling even if I overclock a bit. Ideally, I want to not *have* to have any fans blowing on the mobo, and only have the fans on the PA160 radiators to worry about.

Unfortunately Intel doesn't tell the TDP of its chipsets' individual components. What they tell is the max idle power and TDP of the whole chipset, 12.3W and 26.5W respectively(source), of which a large part is the northbridge. Hope this helps.
If you only overclock a little, you should probably have no worries with the temp of the chipset, as AFAIK you only have to up the voltage of the northbridge if you overclock lot.
