Ninja on a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H anyone ?

Post by NoMoreNoise » Sun Jan 20, 2008 11:51 pm

I'm very pleased with my mobo but the stock amd cooler is too noisy so alternatives are being sought after. Especially the Scythe Ninja (Rev.b) with the optional 120mm fan. Having looked through compatible coolers on Gigabytes own list, it does not list the GA-MA69GM-S2H, but that may be just because they haven't tested it yet. It does however list the ATX version of this board.

Does anyone have the Ninja (Rev.b) fitted to their GA-MA69GM-S2H.

How does it work, especially are there any problems with fitting in terms of it touching either ram sticks or capacitators ?

You can bend the capacitors a bit to move them out of the way. They are the only thing that is close.

OK - but what is the result of bending the capacitators - does it have any effect, and if so what effect/s ?

There isn't any effect, the capacitors work as usual while they are connected.

So unless they are broken off the board, nothing will change.

I'm not sure what added heat from touching the heatpipe will do, or if the casing of the capacitor gets a bit worn from small vibrations...
