Hi folks,
I'm tossing up between the E1200 and E2160 / E2180 / E2200 (Either all, whichever is more popular). My main issue is temperature, due to space constraints I may have to use a northbridge cooler rather than whatever is provided stock (I have about 2-3cm clearance above the CPU die).
Does the E2200 have higher temperatures than the E1200 by any significant margin? For the small increase in price, I'd like to go with this unit but it will be junk if impossible to cool with a northbridge cooler.
The HS/F unit I have in mind would be around this size:

Could the E2200 survive on this? If not, do you think the E1200 would be OK?
Edit: I've just been reading about temperatures into the 60's on stock cooling for the E2200. If this is the case then it will be no good with the above HS/F. Can anyone provide more temperature info on the E1200?
Thanks for your help. If you know of any other worthwhile Intel processors please make a mention of them.

The E7200 runs much cooler than the E2140. The E1200 is no cooler than an E2140, and its performance is much lower (and it is hardly any cheaper). Maybe some cheaper 45nm chips will come out soon. Regardless, there is really no cool chipsets to combine with any Intel chips. The single memory channel nVidia nForce 7000 series being the closest.weboweb wrote:Thanks for your help. I would steer you towards 690G and AMD chip (they are a lot cheaper too.)
