I just got the Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H board and have couple of questions on the fan headers on it.
It has 4-pin headers for CPU fan and SYS fan and a 3-pin one for NB fan.
Here's the pin diagram for the 4-pin headers on the manual:
CPU fan
pin1 GND
pin2 +12V/Speed Control
pin3 Sense
pin4 Speed Control
SYS fan
pin1 GND
pin2 Speed Control
pin3 Sense
pin4 +5V
My question is why the twp header's pin designs are different?
Does it mean I can't use the same fan for both the CPU and SYS fan headers?
Another question is, do both the CPU and SYS fan headers support PWM fans? or only the CPU fan header supports it?
Can I use 3-pin fans on the 4-pin headers and still be able to control fan speed?
Any help will be welcome!
Fan headers on the Gigabyte 780G board?

Because, Gigabyte's manual writers don't review their own stuff. The layout is the same, just labeled differently in the manual for some reason.
Both headers should support PWM fans and control them.
If you use 3pin fans on the 4-pin headers, you'll either have to control them in the BIOS (if it supports it) or manually with a fan controller or software (SpeedFan).
