Does anyone have a link to the power consumption differences between the X58 and P45 chipset? As well as the 775 v 1366 CPU's?
I want to build a fast PC for HTPC use, but lower power and heat is more important.
X58 vs P45 power/heat?

TDPs here.
Most 45 nm C2Ds idle at the same power / temperatures. 5-10 watts depending on who you ask. the quad cores are double than (they are basically two C2Ds on a die).
i7 cpus have the ability to turn off cores when not in use, so their idle temps and powers should be similar, even though at load they will use considerably more power than a C2D.
For a HTPC an i7 sounds like a bit of overkill. I see a lot of people using E5200s. Are you gaming on this HTPC?
