Help! How to remove heatsink baseplate [Solved!]

Post by Cams » Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:16 am

I got my new motherboard last week. Rather than doing the sensible thing of testing it, I put the heatsink on. I have a Scythe Ninja and used the supplied LGA775 adapter bolt-through kit. It has a base plate that goes on the underside of the motherboard; it sticks on with 3M sticky foam.

I got an RMA number for the motherboard, and of course now I can't get the base plate off again. It's stuck tight. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get it off?

Panic over. My clever wife suggested a hairdryer and that worked a treat. The motherboard is now on its way back. Hope they get it sorted out quickly. I'm getting really impatient now!
