What does everybody think of this GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard???

Is it going to be a good buy for a silent system?????

It is a pretty popular motherboard. I recently used one in a build, and it was just fine. A motherboard has little to do with the noise level of a computer though. These days, they are mostly fanless. Checkout here if you are at all confused.

Thanks for the reply, I am worried if I will have any problems if I wanted to use this motherboard with a big graphics card like the ATI 4870 and a huge CPU cooler like the Prolima Megahalems http://www.silentpcreview.com/prolima-megahelams

Will I have any problems with these fitting?

I also have a Lian Li PC60 case, is this high enough for the CPU cooler?

It is an older case, so I doubt you will find anyone that has put a Prolima Megahalems in it. The heatsink is 16 cm high, so it will be tight if it fits. Unless you can find your case / heatsink combo in the general gallery or elsewhere online you will just have to try it yourself.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding a system with a P45-UD3P and just wanted to say this has been the easiest board I've ever brought up. Solidly built board, no bizarre issues so far. I'm sure the 3R will be the same way.

Hopefully I'll be able to hack my old Lian Li PC60 case a little and I'll post some pictures when I am done

It'll run Mac OS X with very few headaches. One of the best for that purpose.
