The ASUS Rampage II has 8 headers in four groups.

The manual is awfully vague, but it looks like there are at least two controllers that SpeedFan can operate, and possibly as many as four.

The BIOS can change fan speeds of all four groups, although one (OPT) requires that you buy and install extra sensors.

I am using a dfi motherboard at the moment, it has 5 fan headers but I can only control 3 of them. I use to have a asus motherboard, one if the republic gamer ones like the rampage ii and rampage gene whichhad 8 fan headers and you could control all of them. I wish I had the rampage extreme ii now but it's too expensive!

Likewise, I also had very unpleasant Gigabyte X58 UD4R experience concerning fan control which can control CPU fan only. Were I you, I'd purchase several Fanmate 2 or Molex 5V splitter for fan control. It's not worth purchasing another motherboard for better fan control ability.
