Will the ASUS Z97I-PLUS which has an 8 pin power socket work with a PicoPSU 160 which has a 4 pin adapter?
I understand that some boards with an 8 pin socket do work with 4 pin adapters and some don't!

Hard to say for sure without owning it.... but if it serves you, i used an picoPSU 150XT + 150W brick on an Asus Maximus VI Gene, that has 8 pin cpu and used only the 4pin that comes with the picoPSU and it worked fine, again i cant say for sure on a motherboard that i dont own, but my guess is it will work.

Thanks, that sounds promising.

Second thoughts: I've found a specialist mini-PC supplier that show compatibility so I'll double check with them.

You can get 4 pin to 8 pin 'eps' adapters for a few £/$ if you need.
If you're looking at Pico PSU then I doubt you're planning a high power system so should be no problem with overloading any of the power connectors.
[The only time I've seen this 'in the field' is old Athlon systems pulling high amps through the 5v line of the main ATX plug]

It's working fine although I had early teething problems as both of my 8GB Corsair RAM kits failed Memtest in dual channel mode with the Asus + Pico combo.
I was alerted by the Windows install failing when using an ISO direct from MS so ran Memtest as a check.
After trying various combinations of motherboards, CPUs and power supplies I tried a third RAM kit which works fine.
So two sets of RAM to RMA with Corsair just hope they're in warranty.

IMPORTANT:
The 24 pin power socket is right next to the RAM slots so if you want to use the optional cable to add further outputs to the PicoPSU you will have to use fairly low profile RAM.
This is the sort of cable I mean:

Guys, while discussion is abt Z97I-plus can anyone re-confirm the following:
- if Scythe Kotetsu works fine with Z97I-plus - i.e. not blocking the PCI-E slot.
- what are average picoPSU operating temps ? I believe they should be quite high, especially with power elements facing RAM and receive no extra cooling....

want to recheck for a future build
