Zalman bankruptcy.
Didn't see a thread or article about it here. Word on the web is that the parent company Moneual's CEO and vice presidents fudged the numbers for sales to take out billions of dollars worth of bank loans and now the stuff has hit the fan.
Zalman goes bankrupt
Hey guys. Been a few years since I've visited here obsessively.

Zalman is bankrupt now. I used to like a few of their products back in the early days before Noctu and the wise people of SPCR taught me better.

Re: Zalman bankruptcy.
I checked the SPCR reviews and it seems the last Zalman product was reviewed 2 years ago, so they weren't doing well.
They diversified into more cases, PSUs, etc. and their products weren't standing out, some good ones were discontinued.
It appears that most employees were aware the company was (quoting) "a sham". Sad...

Well, I posted that news just a bunch of hours before your thread (though that isn't so much important).
Re: Zalman goes bankrupt
ah, i missed the other thread.
Re: Zalman goes bankrupt
Checking in just to mourn Zalman's passing. My Zalman Flower CNPS6000-AlCu was probably the first component ever to satisfy my PC silencing needs, unlike previous acquisitions such as the Q Technology PSU and Silent Drive enclosure.
Purchased January 2002, so it predates SPCR by a few months and really was one of the pioneer products back when quiet computing was a largely-ignored niche. Was a monster of a heatsink for the time - can recall my uncle being taken aback by its size when I opened my PC case.
So began the yearning for quieter PSUs, hard disks, video cards and optical drives to match the Zalman.

Re: Zalman goes bankrupt
from one of the news pieces...
top executives at Moneual conspired from the beginning to defraud banks by taking out inflated loans using fabricated export data. In the more than five years that this allegedly has been taking place, the former employee says executives took out 3.2 trillion won ($2.98 billion) worth of loans.
I love it. Scam the banks for $3 billion at their own game. If you're gonna scam, might as well scam big.

That's a lot of Fan Mates

More likely it's a lot of money to stuff in your briefcase and make a runner before anyone notices. False accounting is an old game and it's amazing anyone actually tries it and thinks they can get away with it for a long time. I can't seem to find a link but I seem to remember over 5 years ago they had a legal dispute with a Chinese company making knockoffs of their products and major fraud allegations also so ironic in a way that fraud comes to pull them down.CA_Steve wrote:That's a lot of Fan Mates
Sorry to hear that Zalman is no more as they have had some really important products in the past. I say past as I can't see much that's been that great since about 2007. It remains possible that they are a going concern in themselves and might be bought up by another party.
I wasn't aware of the Moneual name before now but have looked them up. It looks like they have made some living room computer cases of their own:

Also appears that they make robot vacuum cleaners. Clearly not good enough at sweeping up inflated sales figures however.

Re: Zalman goes bankrupt
They should have played the Xerox game and just copied successful, silent designs like every other successful company does when someone has a better idea. That and they needed better fans because I have had more Zalman fans fail me than any other brand. Currently have to replace the fan on my CNPS7000V as the thing just developed a wobble.
Zalman needed heatsink with easily replaceable 92 & 120mm fans. That whole proprietary fan bit is why I steer clear of most of their stuff.
