300w FORTRON outperformes 460w Enermax !! ...
.
Hi all ... since there are so many other Fortron fans here,
thought I'd present yet another shining review.
For those interested, SystemCooling.com reviewed two
Fortron units, the FSP300-60PN and FSP530-60GNA.
Believe it or not, the 300w Fortron unit with the 120mm fan
beat the Enermax EG465AX-VE in their test system.
...... (A7N8X Deluxe, 2600+, 9700Pro aIw, Plextor 48/12/48, 2 x WD “SE” 120GB, ....... etc.)

"Conclusion:
Fortron/Source Technology and their PSU have done nothing but impress me. The PSU are made with extremely high quality and perform very well. Comparing them to what I consider a top of the line Enermax EG465X-VE PSU they do nothing but shine. And what is even better then their performance is the price at a MSRP for FSP530-60GNA at around $85 to $100, and for FSP300-60PN at around $30 to $45 they are a steel when I think that I paid $110 for my Enermax. I would not hesitate to recommend either one of these Fortron/Source power supplies. I would like to thank Fortron/Source Technology and Anthony for sending me these two units for review. And I would like to invite anyone in the market for a PSU to give Fortron/Source Technology a closer look."

A $30 300w unit out performing a $100 460w unit?
Simply amazing!
If the 300w unit can do that, just imagine what the 350w unit
is capable of.

Yeah, it's the same review of course.
But I thought it might be more accessible to new readers here
as my other post is at the end of a 169 post thread.

From what I've read elsewhere and personal experience with an FSP 300-60BT I agree FSP are hard to beat.
That review is not hard to beat: the only aspect of performance tested seems to be the ability to run for a week
Try Tom's Hardware and computerbase (in german) for psu reviews that try a bit harder, let alone Mike's excellent reviews!
{editted to add SPCR link - how could I forget!!! }

That review is utterly useless IMO. All it shows is the voltages on the various lines on the guy's system, at one moment. Each one of those screen captures is like a single photo of a gymnast's 2 minute floor routine taken with a camera at 1/500 sec shutter speed. They tell us nothing about the overall performance, and hardly anything even about that particular stress point, as demand on PSUs is normally dynamic.
While I might agree that the Fortrons are good and preferable to the Enermax, I totally disagree with the reasons for the reviewer's conclusions. It's a sad excuse for a review. (He doesn't even seem to realize that the fans on the Fortrons are thermally controlled and don't run on 12V normally!)

A newer version of 12mm fan power makes it nicer
For all those Fortron lovers, I just got the 12mm fan power in 350W version which made by Sparkle ( same factory with Fortron FSP )
This new FSP350-60PNS is the best version with a bigger power output than the previous 300W version. I thought u guys may be interested.
Best deal can be found at http://www.xpdirect.com/35sparpowsup.html
Check it out !

Re: A newer version of 12mm fan power makes it nicer
First, welcome.
But yeah, the locals here cottoned on to the 120mm FSPs a while back.
I'ld watch out for those 12mm fans - probably dont shift any air, could be as noisy as hell, or more likely come from a vendor who doesn't have a clue what a millimeter isnycmurano wrote:I just got the 12mm fan power in 350W version
