Zalman ZM400B-APF vs ZM400B-APS

Post by IdontexistM8 » Mon Feb 16, 2004 4:59 pm

Does anyone know any other differences between the APF and APS models apart from SATA connectors?

Does the APF not work with SATA HDDs or do you need to buy additional connectors?

Cheers...

Higher peak on the 12 volt rail and it looks like the 300W model is now black as well. Whether they're quieter remains to be seen.

I remember MikeC mentioned he had some new Zalman PSUs ready to be reviewed in the coming weeks. I assume he's referring to the APS.

APS is listed as being ATX12V 1.3 compliant, while the APF is not (which corresponds to the 12V max and peak differences 18/19.5amp vs 15/18amp)

oddly enough, the peak inrush current is listed as being lower on the APS (60amps) while the APF is listed as 80amps.

You can still use SATA drives on the APF, you just need power adapters.....a lot of SATA drives have both molex and SATA power connectors.

The built-in SATA connectors make the APS harder to sleeve....I haven't been able to find a tool to remove the connectors.

Interestingly I've found one place (can't remember off the top of my head) stocking it in the UK and it's cheaper than the APF...so I'll go with that...
