About the position of a psu with a 12x12 fan

Post by Maurizio XP » Mon Feb 23, 2004 7:13 am

Hi there, I'm sorry for my english.
I have to mount this kind of psu with the fan up or down?
I ask this beacause I read that the psu with the fan down (just over the cpu zone) interacts with the case fan.

Mount it with the fan down over the CPU zone. This should be the normal mounting position so that any printing on PSU on the outside of the case is right side up (assuming your have a tower rather than desktop case).

It may interact with the case fan, but since they are both exhausting air, it should not be a problem.

Ok, I got it, but in the nexus 3500 review of spcr they said that with both fan exhausting air the temp raise up...

so what's the best solution?

If the case fan is voltage adjustable (to control the speed), try turning it down a little. Not all cases are the same, so what happens with one case may be different from yours. Check your CPU temps and if it is OK, don't worry about it.
