Intake duct/vent question

Post by fanerman91 » Mon Jun 21, 2004 10:48 pm

Would making the hole for the vent on the roof of the case work just as well as using a drive bay? What about having a fan there as well?

I see no reason why it shouldn't... Putting a fan there *will* increase noise though.

Using one or two drive bays and building a channel doesn't require you to hack up your case. I made my PSU channel from closed-cell foam and double sided foam tape. The cost was negligible (about 8 USD), and Sweden is expensive...

I have a Lian-li pc82 case that had a blow hole fan in the center of the top. I removed the fan and used the hole to make a duct for the PSU. With the ss400 psu getting ambient air its fan never speeds up.

The only problem with this that I know off is if you accidentally cover the opening. Apart from that I don't see why it won't work.
