Antec True Power 550 -> Seasonic 430

Post by Derek Baker » Sat Jun 04, 2005 5:40 pm

Considering this change. Will I notice a significant drop in noise? At the moment the Antec is the dominate noise source when idling.

Thanks

Hi Derek,

From the other similar models that I have used, I would say that yes, the Seasonic will be significantly quieter.

I used to own a Truepower 430 and in my experience it's not what I would call a silent PSU. My Seasonic 430 (proud owner since yesterday) is definitely very quiet.

This response is for Derek Baker and refers to an older Antec TP 550 (the one I have is a few years old), but yes I'm certain that it is quieter.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm actually inclined toward a fanless PSU, but only the Phantom would have the ratings I want. With the reports of failures and the price - about twice that of the Seasonic here - I'm leaning toward the SS.

Also the Phantom would be under a lot of thermal stress when I game - I though it might better to have two 120s, one in the PSU, one on the back, rather than just the rear one working harder.
