AcBel Intelligent Fan swap with D12SL-12
Has anyone done this with this combination?
If doing a fan swap do i plug the new fan into the pin connector? or plug the fan thru a fan controller than to 2 pin connector on PSU PCB?
Does this PSU AcBel Intelligent 400W API4PC01-S, rev fan up down according to heat?
Thanks.

"It also has a built-in thermal probe to keep the fans spinning at lower speeds when the system detects the temperatures are not too hot. Spinning at full speed, though, the fan still only emits about 18dBA of sound, so you can be assured of a quiet operation."
Is that pure BS? What fan does it use?

Hi,
most modern PSUs control the fan speed according the PSU temperature. You may want to check the PSU modding sticky.
If you want to do simple fan swap and let PSU control the fan speed, just take out the old fan and plug in the new fan. The Acbel should have surprisingly have a three pin fan header (I'm basing this on the Coolermaster 450W SPCR review, it's basicly the same PSU).
If you want to manually control the fan speed, then hook the PSU fan outside the PSU to a fan controller.
Hope this helps.
PS. Yes the 18dB rating is pure marketing BS.

Manufacturer claims 75% efficiency at 115VAC. I somehow remember the efficiencys are slightly better when run at 230VAC?
The Seasonic does most likely have a bit better efficiency. However,it's hard to say which one would be quieter if you will use the PSU's own fan control circuit. But I would personally go for the Seasonic. Acbel has a bit bettter looks if that kind of thing concerns you.
