Anyone Have Any Opinions On NorthQ PSU's?

Post by jaganath » Wed Oct 05, 2005 10:48 am

I was having a look round for a new PSU and came across these ones claiming very low noise levels (12-17 dBA):

On the one hand this seems plausible because of the large 140mm PSU fan, but on the other the claimed efficiencies on the website are poor considering it is meant to be a near-as-makes-no-odds silent PSU (65% at load, 55% @ 30W):

Does anyone have one of these PSU's, have experience with them or at least come across them and discarded them for reasons they could list?

65% efficency would prevent me buying one of them instantly. It's a 400W PSU and only sources 18A of current on the 12V line doesn't look good to me.

I wouldn't if i were you.
