Antec Phantom 350W - HOOOOT!!

Post by mo786 » Fri Oct 21, 2005 7:53 pm

Installed one of these in my Sonata II case today a few hours ago.

I have almost no airflow.

The case itself is very warm but the PSU to thw touch is VERY hot (i.e I cannot touch it for very long - a couple of seconds)

I have the slot underneath the PSU with no fan on it (120mm fan) - the exhaust fan as its called.

I wil lprobably stick a Nexus on there tomorrow to run at a slower speed

should i
a) Run the nexus as a normal exhaust fan runnign at low speed
b) run the nexus blowing INTO THE CASE just to get some air moving

c) run the nexus but put it right undenreath the PSU so its moving air directly away from the PSU (but dowrads into the case)
d) simialr as C but have the fan blowing directly onto the PSU to keep it cool

I just wanna get it to a safe temperature - quietness is more important that killing the life of a compnent by 5 years (as long as it will not kill anything within the next 2 years!)

1(HDD / 2 DVD drives \ 3 PCI cards - low end graphics)

Hello,

I would try a) and b) and see which one is better, but I would not try c), and d) could helpful, bit it seems less likely than a or b...

I would recomend using a nexus fan at the back as exhaust. A nexus fan at 5V can hardly be heard, but the little airflow you get would make all the difference. Your PSU will act as a slight intake, and it will cool the PSU considerably.
