Is Hiper Type R 580W SLI Ready good choise for quiet PSU?

I wanna buy this PSU and put it in Tai Chi tower. Is that a good choice?

It depends what you define as "quiet". This review:

of the 480W says it's definitely nowhere near 14dB, but not too noisy either:

The Type-R isn't the quietest PSU I've heard but it's certainly down at that end of the scale. 14dBA is on the optimistic side in my view but it certainly couldn't be classed as obtrusive, and although it wasn't really audible above a pair of 120mm case fans, somebody with an otherwise silent PC may have more cause to complaint. Like so many things in computing it's all relative.

Do you really need 580W?

Colleague at work says its the loudest part of his P4/9800pro system, i have the 480 and its about 4th loudest
