S12 updated?

Post by Derek Baker » Tue Mar 28, 2006 1:43 pm

Seen this: http://tinyurl.com/mbrj5
2× 6-pin power supply connectors for PCI Express graphics cards
4× fully assigned Serial ATA power supply connectors (incl. +3,3V rail)
My S12-430 - bought in Spring 2005 - has two SATA and no PCIE.

Have they updated it or is it a mistake?

The 500W and 600W S12s both have the 4 SATA and 2 PCIe. It's possible they've updated the 430W as well, but I'd be pretty suspect.

According to the seasonic website (which is a primary source), the S12-430 does not have PCIe connectors. Just in case you think their website may not be accurate, you can contact them at [email protected].

The pictures are actually contradictory on that issue. But in any case, just imagine that your S12 PSU cables came beautifully sleeved, and that because your case is closed there will not be anything to contradict that illusion.

there's always a case window :)

but, you're right I don't have a window, so it wouldn't be as benefical

However I do like to have my cables all pretty :D
it comes down to personal taste, for the same price it's nicer

Yes, it would be nicer, but you already built your system and what is done is done. If you view the world via a rear-view mirror or you will drive yourself crazy.
