Curious to know it anyone is running an IC-7 with any new V 2.01 spec psu successfully.
I sold my antec neo he 500 that worked fine for me in three different setups to an anonymous someone that thinks the psu is blowing up his ram and is doing the beep, fan spin, sys shutdown thing. His old psu works fine.

I'd like to help this guy out if I can.

But I need a little advice on this from the Laws of Kirchoff & Ohm jedi here.

I'm inclined to believe that an intel cpu clocked over 3Ghz in an old platform needs a completely different type of psu. Like one that is better in the 3.3 and 5v delivery?

Even an old P4 still draws most of its power from +12V. My guess is that there is a problem with the PSU. Antec NeoHEs have known problems with systems that don't draw much power at start-up.

Thanks for noticing my thread. An Intel rig oc'd to over 3.3ghz draws less power than an AMD rig??
Yea I read about the problems, my 500 (the newer s0511 replacement)ran three systems fine for me:

an AN7 - 3200xp@2500 - 9800xt - 2x512 ddr - 2 sata hdds - 2 optical drives - 2 120mm 1 92mm fans

an msi rs482ild - 3200 venice - no graphics card - same other stuff except I experimented with running 2x256 bh5 in addition to the 2-2-2-5 tccd (ran memtest86 fine at stock speeds with the mismatched mem sticks)

my current rig (before the 170) it ran but I couldn't get a decent oc from it.

That's why I sold it, the bad press and unimpressive oc from good components led me to mistrust and give up on the thing.
The buyer actually told me that he first got it to run by unplugging an optical drive. ?? I told him that was the opposite of what had been reported at this site.
