Semi-passive PSU with external fan control?

Post by knutinh » Mon Jul 10, 2006 6:01 am

Are there any high-quality low-noise PSUs out there that allows external control of its fan without voiding the warranty?

I am kind of asking for a Seasonic 330W that usually controls its own fan by its own temp, but if a fan input is requesting a higher fan speed that the internal sensor, then the external input is higher ranked?

The reason I am asking is that the PS is a nice place to stick a large, low-noise fan, and having an internal self-contained control system works as an extra assurance that the PS never overheats. On the other hand, speeding up the PS fan by mCubed/speedfan solutions allows me to remove all system fans, for a cleaner more streamlined setup with lots of space...

i was considering this in my system, but not going to go for it as i will probably need more airflow in my system to remove the heat from my passive 7600GT
