Quiet power supply with more than 4 sata connectors

Post by jeepescu » Fri Aug 17, 2007 6:01 pm

Can anyone recommend a power supply with more than 4 sata connectors ?
I intend to run 3 HDs and 2 DVDs, all sata.

The only one I could find was the Corsair HX620, all the others stop at 4 connectors.

Budget is an issue, the lower the price, the better.

Watts wise, 500 or 600w should be Ok, I calculated on line and I should be fine with 500w.

Hello,

You can probably use a 300watt PSU -- and you can use Molex to SATA adapters.

I didn't even know those existed.

Thanks Neil.

I think the M12 600 has 8: http://www.seasonicusa.com/m12.htm, http://www.seasonicusa.com/images/m12wi ... ration.jpg

What it also has is a hefty pricetag, an extra 60mm fan and serious overkill for such a small setup. Online calculator's probably throwing up the 500W reading via a buffer rule.

SATA extension cables are usually the best option, and they allow you to anchor the PSU cable somewhere out of sight.
