Hi Bendit
I think that fan running at fix 5v is enough for your PSU,
Unless you are heavy user & your system have high watt consumption

udi, it's a 65w Brisbane ssytem very similar to yours, that never gets pushed hard. btw, I am running my minja passively and my cpu temp is 36c. Granted its winter in NYC but this is ~ 2c lower than my Katana 2 with a 92mm Nexus on it. Great cooler!

Hi Bendit

yes. I have the second generation Brisbane 5000+ and it seems to run cooler and react better to cool and quiet management. Actually things are starting to heat up a bit I will have to watch the CPU temps. It may be that I will have to slap my 92mm nexus on it.

I have the +4400 (65w) on Cool'n'Quiet mode,
With fanless minja & 2 X 12" fan case on fix rpm700
The CPU temp is on 29c-31c idle...

udi, I have a solo with 1 100mm scythe intake @5v and one 120mm exhaust running at 800rpm. I have 1 3.5 drive and 1 notebook. Your case fans are quite close to minja. my temps are stabilizing at 38c for my CPU and if I open my window, it will go a bit lower. :-)

If i will let my CPU to go up to 38c, I think I can
Lower my fans speed to 500-550 rpm...

udi it looks like you are still using the black nexus silicon plugs also? How is the fit of these hard drive screws? I have some I can use.

Hi bendit
Yes I am still using the black nexus silicon....
As for the fit of the hard drive screws, it very esey, the have the same thread like The original, as for the silicon washers,
you just need to squeeze them a little bit and the are in...

Happy Christmas :D

Tell you the truth, I have some very low frequency sound that
I think is coming from the PSU fan vibration...
I thinking to remove the PSU screws & put the psu on foam only...
do you have some advice?

udi if you can hear that you are obsessed! you know it can become an never ending quest. sometimes you just have to focus on other things! you've already gone overboard with the psu. perhaps it's the HD? :D

no POST after fan swab in NSK2400 PSU

Post by pyro2003 » Sat Jan 19, 2008 8:55 pm

friends

building my NSK2400 following this forum's suggestions; all new components but not getting POST, what to check first ?

NSK2400 + following changes -
Case fan swab to 2 Scythe 120mm (connect to CPU fan connector)
Swab PSU fan with Nexus 80 mm fan with Zalman 2 fan control (connect to rear exhaust fan connector)
Intel D865GLCLK mobo (478 Northwood, 3G cpu, very old board)

at this point with only one Scythe case fan connected, no fan whatever is turning at all, but have green mobo light (another red light was on before when both Scythe were connected, then one turns for a while, PSU fan never came on)

I was suspecting PSU but maybe jumpers on mobo ?

thanks

Good question - didn't test that first as I worked on each piece separately and then assemble together.

post now but stuck at fan error

Post by pyro2003 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:07 am

after reseating things and clearing up cable connections/turning all fan controls to max, front LED, PSU and Scythe fan both turns on, CDROM working,RAM tested, mobo now POST but stuck at a fan prompt

screen 1
Gateway [F2 Bios] [F10 Boot Menu]

screen 2
BIOS version; RAM, keyboard, mouse, CDROM, ATAPI checks fine

screen 3
system cooling fan not operating properly (front chassis fan), system halted;

Turns out the front fan connector is missing, I only get the soldering points left on the mobo. Cannot use F2 to get into the bios. Any way to bypass this error or do I have to solder the 3 pin fan connector back ? (photo in next post)

Background for this board : this is one of the rare mATX board in 'the known universe with gigabite ethernet built in still support 478/Northwood. Intel D865GLCLK (I have many old spare parts on this platform and had enough pains with a 775 barebone last year that I sold it after I fixed the overheating problem, another post here)

Well yes it seem i got a lemon unfortunately, but the mobo was bought from ebay in US and now I'm in Asia. So I'll try to solder a connector back

I did get into the BIOS by jumpering to CONFIG mode and also disabled the fan control, but cannot get rid of the fan error message. Maybe I should try recovery also - however the BIOS does indicate things are functional

Sorry I should take this problem elsewhere ... like the mobo forum

Noctua NF-R8 fan

Post by NoMoreNoise » Mon Jan 21, 2008 2:28 pm

I swapped my stock Adda fan that sat in my Earthwatts 380w PSU with the the Noctua NF-R8 with excellent results. Unless I have my ear up in to the fan itself it cannot be heard (at 800 rpm). Just thought I'd let you guys know.

P.s. Since I have now used the 3 pin connector that was used by the stock amd cooler I an running the case fan in reverse. Gives me system temp of 32 and cpu of 37. Should be ok until the Ninja arrives - yes ?

I have an AMD Athlon FX2 4000. As I mentioned I am waiting for my Ninja and I am running my stock case fan in reverse to get some airflow into the case since the 3 pin plug previously used by the amd cooler is now occupied by the Noctua fan.

There must have been something wrong with the mobo sensor so I checked it out again. My sy.temp is 33 and cpu 37. Cheers
