Kind of interesting, would have been easier to watch thou had they not used that constant guitar masturbation, which for some reason has become this common theme everywhere. :?

Anyway, thanks for “uploadâ€

Little more fluffy than I was hoping for, but thanks for the link!

Interesting. It would be great to have them release a cheapish, 400ish watts power supply with modular cables me thinks. That would make an instant classic!

Redbeard explained why the VX450W did not have modular cables, and it would not seem likely that Corsair would envisage a market for a cheap, modular ~400W PSU.

It's a shame, because few people really need something as powerful as a 520W PSU. The only ones who need that are people with two top-of-the-line graphics cards and heavily overclocked systems. A 350W PSU is enough for 99.999% of the people.

I always wanted a modular PSU, but they were always too expensive and with wattage way off the charts. 100€+ for a modular Corsair is something that I'd smack myself over the head for buying.

Companies go for "too big". A modular 350-400W PSU would be a real hit... Just as, for example, 10-15cm SATA cables - most of the drives are on the bottom of the case, next to the motherboard connectors, but you only get 50cm cables with everything... Or you can buy 1m cables. Who the hell would want those, and why? Even with PSUs, modular or not, most of the cables are just too long, so you have to tuck them away somewhere. My DVD-RW is in the second topmost 5.25" bay, only because I need to place some surplus cables on top of it.

Well, a US$110 430W modular PSU is pretty close.

The 500W model is $185 here (125€), so the 430W model will be $160 (110€). That's not cheap.

Well, here the 430W model is 85€. That looks like my next PSU... The VX450 would be between 55 and 60, the S12II is between 50 and 55.

I've just noticed that the HX520 is sold for 77€ here. Does anyone think that the M12II has a higher quality, or will the prices drop to HX levels with greater availability?

<US$110 is good insofar as Seasonic-branded PSU prices here (the review notes prices should come down as retail availability improves). The considerably cheaper alternative is the Antec NeoPower 380W/430W, which is also a Seasonic unit from memory. The NeoHE/NeoPower has been available for more than two years and also had a US$110 MSRP when reviewed in October 2005.

I doubt there will be much difference in quality. I don't know if 8€ is a large drop in Germany (what was the case with the HX, VX and S12II?), but the M12II-430 should cost less than the HX520W at or soon after retail availability here (since US$110 is about or less than the lowest price of the HX520W here).

Of course, 8€ is not that much, maybe 11US$. I was just wondering why two units which are obviously from the same source (they could be even from the same manufacturing line) have this price difference of 10% while the cheaper unit is the more powerful one, and all other things look more or less the same.

FYI:
The HX520 costs about 77€ here.
The HX620 costs about 102€ here.
The M12II430 costs about 85€ here.
The M12II500 costs about 102€ here.

The VX450 costs about 54€
The S12II430 costs about 53€

All prices incl. VAT (19%) and excl. p&p.

So my conclusion is... to wait until prices of the HX and the M12II have leveled. I assume that the M12II500 will go down to maybe 80€ and the M12II430 to maybe 70€. I don't think that Seasonic can maintain these price levels as long as you get the same PSUs, just one power class higher, for basically the same price over at Corsair.
