most power supply fans run through a temperature sensor, so there's no definite RPM. you'll have to cut and splice as well as solder and shrink wrap the positive and negative fan leads.

i've never seen a power supply with a 3/4pin plug in it, because of space constraints as well as power requirements.

My Earthwatts has a 2 pin connector but I still used the fan from my Mini Ninja which is 3 pin.

The details on how I did it are found here:

I think you just have to worry about the voltage for the fan and what starting voltage your fan can run at.

I remember the Mini Ninja fan could start as low as ~ 4 volts and the Earthwatts was running at ~5 at lower loads.

Thanks, I think ill do it the simpler way of cutting the wires and solidering them.

Here is all the info on the fans im getting i think at the bottom is the starting fan volt??
Voltage Range 4-13 V
Is that right?

I dont know what mine is as I think they taken it off the market.

Noctua NF-R8 80mm Quiet Case Fan

Sound-optimised blade geometry and profile: The NF-R8 is the first fan employing a novel 80mm rotor which was developed by the Austrian Institute for Heat-Transmission and Fan Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). Thanks to the special optimisation of the blade geometry towards ultra low noise application, the NF-R8 is up to 10% more quiet than current high-end fans at the same flow rate.

Self-stabilising oil-pressure bearing (SSO-Bearing): The NF-R8 series are equipped with a magnetically centred, self lubricating oil-pressure bearing that provides a new level of quietness and long-term stability

Features:

* Sound-optimised blade geometry and profile (Noctua Straight-Blade-Design)
* Self-stabilising oil-pressure bearing (SSO-Bearing)
* <7dB(A) minimum noise with supplied U.L.N.A.
