Replacing my Antec tpq 850

Post by tyeh26 » Mon Feb 23, 2009 8:55 pm

Hi,

My computer produces quite a bit heat with

an e6850 and 8800GT SLI passive as the main hardware

I originally got the power supply real cheap, and have learned why I should never buy something not on the SPCR recommended list.

My main concerns is my power bill and secondly the heat.

Using the PSU calculator it suggests something around 500W. Since I run my fans real low, and my hardware relatively hot, Should I get the Seasonic or the Enermax on the Recommended list?

I want to keep this running as a fileserver/htpc eventually (removing an 8800gt for another computer) So I would like this thing to not be too power hungry, heat shouldn't be too much of an issue. What do you guys think? thanks.

I've been using Enermax for years. The PSU coming to replace my garbage OCZ unit (whaddayaknow, first non-Enermax I buy is bunk) is a revolution 850. I highly doubt you need 850W, I'd be inclined to get the Modu82 625W and be chill with that.

I have nothing against Seasonic, I just love Enermax
