Silverstone finally have an 80plus certified fanless PSU.
The combined 12V rail is only 324W but apart from that it sounds impressive.

The ST45NF is a very similar power supply, with 50W more. It may not have the 80plus certification, but looking at the results in the reviews (for example this one at spcr), it meets the requirements for it.

I wonder why silverstone has launched this ST40NF when they already have the ST45NF for a similar price...

Actually the ST45NF was certified as 80 PLUS Bronze PSU before the ST40NF and the price for ST40NF will be closer to ST30NF than to ST45NF.

Here is the link to all of our 80 PLUS certified PSUs:

Thanks. I realised this just after starting this thread. :o

In the UK there aren’t many stockists and Scan are probably the biggest vendor with the 40 and 45 being priced only £3 apart with the 30 £22 less than the 40. They have had occasional offers for the 30 as low as £86 in the last 4 months.

Hmm... I was not aware of Scan's prices. They seem to have priced ST40NF higher and ST45NF lower than our recommended retail prices.

I have the best price ever here, 0 € :D
No really, there just aren't any  Retailers are more worried in buying cheap and crappy or still crappy but overpriced 1000W PSUs than fanless ones.

Here in Spain I've found only two places where I can buy either the ST40NF or the ST45NF (and could not find both in the same shop), and the price is nearly the same for both PSUs, around 160€. Of course, with such a small number of shops to compare, it is hard to tell he real difference... But it is the only possibility here :(

Fanless PSUs are not quite popular, so the problem is that not many retailers offer them. And recommending someone a 400W PSU for 160€ in Spain, is something complicated... I know only two people in Spain who would buy such PSU, and one of them is myself :).
