PC-Q07 Gaming System + PICOPSU?
Hey all,
I've currently built this:
PC-Q07
GA-H55N-USB3
i5 670 3.47GHz
9600GT with Zalman VF900 (5v) Replacing with HD 5670 Ultimate soon.
Scythe Shuriken (@ low)
WD5000AACS
Seasonic 330 SII
+ front grill MOD
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My temps are pretty good:
During load:
System: 42
CPU: 35
GPU: 45
And as for power:
71 Idle (was 44 with IGP)
115w while gaming
138w with Furmark + Orthos
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm planning on going SSD/HD5670 and PICOPSU 150.
I've done some research, a lot of people say to get the DA-2.
I've found that DELTA make the dell adapters and they also have made sister models with the 4 Pin DIN tip.

So I'll get this adapter which replaces the 2.5mm socket on a PICO-PSU
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/mini-FIT-JR-4-pin ... 1e5bbd8d49
And of course a PICOPSU 150
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PicoPSU-150-XT-15 ... 255a51a35f
Around £65 in total.
The question is while it can supply the wattage, is the PICOPSU going to be stable with the HD 5670?

Hi, I've tried this concept previously, albeit not with the PICO, see: mini-itx for gaming
Some questions for you:
Check the PICO for max amps on 12V, might be the breaker for this.
What's your CPU HS? Supposedly even a Shuriken might be noisy in this case.
Has the 5670 got the extra PCI connector, meaning it will draw more than the 75W that the PCI-E socket provides? (I've been musing on the Powercolor Green 5750, which hasn't got this connector.)
All in all, excellent setup, are you happy with the current noise level?
/d

Thanks for the feedback
The system is very very quiet.
I also have a Zalman VF900 VGA cooler @ 5v (all but silent)
and the Nexus 120mm @ 7V (Quiet)
The HD 5670 does not require a 6pin as standard.
The HD 5750 green is also a great choice but too big for the case (2 bay).
The 12v rail is indeed my worry,
I hope someone here has already tried this.

Au contraire, you could always make the 5750 work.

I don't really recommend it, but it's pretty sweet when finished.
I didn't use a picoPSU for my setup though... did the whole dual-winmates setup, which was good because my max draw runs over 200 when under full load (with an i7-860).

It'll be a tight fit!
A 5670 is going to be so easy, but a 5750 is going to be much better.
Ahh! Can't decide.
Seeing as I'm most likely going to be pulling a mear 50w idle and say 110w load, surely a PICOPSU 150-XT will handle it?
Or is it a matter of how well the 12v rail will handle the GPU?
I'm not exactly an electrician!

as you can see I did a config almost like yours, powered by a pico psu 150w, so I think you could do without problems.

Seriously, though. I want to see it on the inside!
I will soon, still got some work to do!
THANKS! I feel much better about trying that!Eddie666 wrote:as you can see I did a config almost like yours, powered by a pico psu 150w, so I think you could do without problems.
