Antec TruePower 650W issue ?

Post by jean019 » Sun May 15, 2011 12:08 pm

Hi,
I have a Antec TruePower New 650W since 2 years.
It is charged at 120W approximately (this is what my APC back-UPS indicates). I have a classic PC, with a passive ATI HD 4550 graphic card.
Currently, it starts to make some very loud noise (the fan seems to be at maximum speed), even when I don't do anything with the PC.
I didn't make that noise before.

I don't understand why.
Is there some known issue with that Power supply ??

Thanks you very much !

Just to make sure that the fan is the problem, try stopping it with a straw and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then your fan is the culprit.

In that case, it may be the fan's bearings are shot. Or it might mean that there is a problem with the fan controller. Either way, you'd can try for an RMA with Antec or void the warranty and fix it yourself by replacing the fan and/or bypassing the internal controller.

Thanks, I sent the PSU to Antec, I'm now waiting for another one.
