I find the fan is rather loud, I "think" it is more of a turbulence noise. This is a really low load machine, a nas that idle 24/7.
Can I let it go passive(cut a larger hole) with a the 120mm fan blowing at it.
There is always pico psu, but that is extra cost and it may have a hard time powering all the hard drives.

dont know about your psu.... but a pico could power a dozen or more HDD's without an issue.

Silverstone Tek Four-in-One SATA Power Connectors with Power Stabilizing Capacitors (CP06) or you can custom do your own like

Well that looks hazardous. But if it works, it probably isn't.

The fan is just wedged in there? I like it!
I would add some duct tape and a standard fan grill though. Safety first.
