Crazy to L1A mod a PC P&C Turbo-Cool 510?

So, I'm thinking of replacing the TTGI 520W PSU in my system with the 510W from PC Power and Cooling, since it has both active PFC and their insane +-1% voltage regulation, which I've found increases the accuracy of a soundcard's digital output.

However, everything I've read iindicates this PSU is extremely loud, so I want to know if I would be putting it in peril by sticking an L1A in place of the stock fan. That's what I've done with my TTGI, and it runs just as good as before, with the fan typically aroung 7.5v, and the air coming out isn't too hot. Would this mean the heat output of my system isn't more than this fan can handle in the PSU, right? I figure it would only improve with the active PFC of the Turbo-cool lowering the heat output. What does everyone think?

I could just buy a Seasonic Super Silencer 400W, and forget about it for noise, but the main reason I want the turbo-cool is for the line regulation, and the Seasonic only has +-5%.

While I can't answer your question, I can say the PC Power & Cooling is great, but as you said loud. And while the voltage regulation is amazing, their efficiency is not so great, I would be leary of putting anything less than 30 CFM in one.

Do you mean the company's PSU's in general are ineffecient, or that this particular model is?

In general, the last time I checked their PSU's were 65-70% efficiency depending on the model. I think the performance models are 70%, which is decent. But it is hard for a PSU putting out 400-500 watts to stay cool without some significant air flow.

I've been running an L1A @5-6V on a Silencer 400 for over a year now without problems.

My setup is not completely dissimilar to yours:

I think I'll just go for it. I've heard you can get them to install an quiet fan at the factory, so I'll have to call them tomorrow.
