2 Fanless PSU's

Post by Seal » Tue Jan 13, 2004 5:15 pm

Anyone seen these fanless psu's before? I want to know if they are anygood and worth their money because heck they cost alot!!!

350W Fanless

420w "Fanless"

They look like theyre very high quality psus but would like to know other peoples opinions. I might start saving if the 420W one is good. Expensive but its an item which i wont have to upgrade for years!

The 350 W version has been reviewed on this site (link). There is also a forum thread here.

You can also search these forums to find more info about it.

Seal, I have the 350w version and it was able to power my rig w/o any problems. As has been discussed here in great detail, people really don't need as much power as they think.

erm i have/am planning to get following:

4 SATA Hard drives in raid5 config
Promise Raid 5 controller card (even takes its own sdram)
ATI Radeon 9600 XT

The rest of my setup is pretty bog standard, atlon xp, 1gb ram etc....

You think a 350w will do with 4 hard drives and the raid controller card?, Remember i also have an optical drive as well.

Well a regular 350w giving you its advertised wattage would do it. But the one thing with at least the SilenceMaxx 350 is that its actual wattage is around 197w. So tally it up and see how you do. I'd say it would still cover it.

I think so too, but I'm hoping you'll get the 420W version instead... so you can be the first one to tell us all what it's like!

hehehe, oh btw ill be overclocking alot too so stable lines are a must.

i think ill probably get the 420w anyway, if im spending that much on a psu might as well go for the higher capacity version, it'll last longer in the future.
