AAM and nforce IDE drivers: How to set AAM?

Post by _Nickel_ » Mon Oct 25, 2004 1:52 pm

I have downloaded the Acoustic management utility from Samsung but it doesn't recognize any of my two Samsung drives. I suspect this is because I am using the nvidia IDE drivers instead of the standard Windows drivers. I cannot use the boot floppys because the floppy controller on my mainboard is broken :(
Anybody know of a program that works with the nvidia IDE drivers, I don't won't to uninstall since it's all working now?

Thanks

Try running the exe from a bootable CD.

if you download the iso from http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/, it includes a bunch of utilities in the bootdisk.

One of the included utilities is the IBM/Hitachi Feature Tool which will allow you to manipulate AAM settings. This works for Samsung drives. This utility is generally platform independent; compatibility should not be an issue.

Just an aside, another handy utility on the CD which I use is g4u. Very useful for images if you have an FTP lying around.
