What do guys think of database for CD/DVD-drives in SPRC? It would feature information of available speed settings. It's really hard to find such information. There is one database at
http://cdromtool.sourceforge.net/compatible.php, but it isn't maintained anymore. And it only lists reported speed, not how they work(eg.AOpen DVD-1648/AAP has few speed settings but always tries to read discs at full speed).

Part of the problem with CD/DVD drives is that they're not silent whatsoever. Just varying degrees of loud and quiet.

That database would be unmaintanable. The different CD/DVD drive types follow each other way too fast. And to keep the SPCR quality standard all the drives in the database should be listened to by a select few reviewers.
