I guess shoving a hard drive up your ass will quiet it down, but Im not OK with the install.

Instigator, I'd agree, its probably not worth the installation. Plus, while it might quiet it down, the vibrations are gonna be irritating as hell.

I guess if you put it up there with some sorbothane, the vibrations could be reduced. Im not sure if suspending would even be an option. OK...Ill stop before we get into the "airflow" issues.

wow, i had forget about airflow. I was just kind of worried about the heat problems, i mean if you are putting the drive in a place where the ambient temp is 37 degrees, the heat could really be a problem.

Nope...dont want to either.

As long as you had some type of airflow youd be ok. Maybe keep up a steady bean diet to keep the methane flowing.
